Klein Tools is recalling several variants of their non-contact voltage tester, model NCVT-1. These voltage testers have been sold at Home Depot and other distributors from January 2020 through March 2021, including some sold in tool kits. In some cases, if the on/off switch remains depressed the tester will not function properly and may not detect live voltage. This malfunction poses a shock hazard to the user.
Anyone that owns one of the recalled models (NCVT1, NCVT1SEN, NCVT1EP, NCVT1A, NCVT1E) with date code ending H7, should stop using the recalled voltage tester and contact Klein Tools to obtain a free replacement.
Klein has previously recalled the Voltage Tester model NCVT5 and their Clamp Meters.
